Doing more for the people who count on us
Andrea Walsh, President and CEO of HealthPartners, and David Herman, MD, CEO of Essentia Health, share their vision for a combined health system that works better for the people and communities it serves.
A combination to make health and care better
Combining the strengths of each organization, the Minnesota-based nonprofit health system will:
Expand access to excellent care
The combined organization will include 22 hospitals, more than 135 clinics and 6,000 clinicians, creating one of the region's largest health systems and ensuring access to care flourishes in large and small communities across the
upper Midwest.
Build on a proven record of quality and outcomes
Both organizations consistently outperform state and national benchmarks for clinical quality measures. Together, they will more quickly share best practices in integrated health care and launch creative solutions across the region.
Make care and coverage easier to navigate and more affordable
The combined care system, in full integration with HealthPartners health plan, will redesign care, reduce complexity and invest where it lowers costs, improves quality and delivers better value for patients and members.
Strengthen local care while expanding specialty expertise
Patients will benefit from a greater depth of expertise and expanded access to specialists, advanced clinical programs, telehealth and coordinated care through strong local care teams and community relationships built over decades of partnership.
Accelerate innovation, research and workforce development
Together, the organizations will expand investments in digital health, research, data analytics and workforce development to offer timely, coordinated, high-quality care close to where patients live.
Support a highly engaged team of 45,000 colleagues
Colleagues will benefit from a stronger, growing organization with more career pathways, education and development opportunities, shared learning across teams, and a continued commitment to a highly engaged, mission-driven culture.
